The Raiders are expected to begin construction this month on a new condo complex near their new football stadium in downtown Oakland.
The development, which will be called Condado Ridge, will include 2,300 condo units, according to a development announcement made on Wednesday.
It’s the first time that the team has officially announced plans to build a new condominium complex near a football stadium, and it could be the start of a larger plan for condominium development around the Raiders.
The Raiders’ proposed $1.9 billion stadium will be built in the Bay Area.
Condado Ridge is a development project that has been in the works for years, but there are now more details on the project.
A developer called Soho, Inc., is building the Condado Ranch, the site for the condo complex, with the help of developer and philanthropist Dan Lasater.
Lasater is also the former mayor of Las Vegas.
The team is expected to move forward with the project as early as next year, according a source familiar with the matter.
The development would not be finished before the 2019 NFL season.
The Raiders play the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 11.
