NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Saints owner Tom Benson met with the team’s new owners this week to discuss their contract.
Goodell and Benson also have agreed to the team keeping a portion of their $2 million salary.
The Saints are now the only NFL franchise that has no long-term contracts.
The NFL also announced Wednesday that the Saints have not signed an extension with linebacker Junior Galette.

The team has a $1.3 billion cap charge.
Benson said he expects the Saints to be profitable in the future.
The Saints signed Galette to a four-year, $45 million deal last offseason.
