The Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, and his wife Catherine are all in hospital after being shot by a disgruntled ex-girlfriend at a hotel in California.
The incident happened at the Hilton Garden Inn in the Los Angeles suburb of Malibu on Thursday night, according to the Los Angles County Sheriff’s Department.
The gunman was identified as a woman who lives in the resort town of Torrance.
Police say the incident began when the former girlfriend, who they identified as the “victim,” was confronted by the Prince and his son at the hotel.
She was then shot and killed by the man.
The hotel’s security video shows the Prince walking away from the group as they walk down a hallway, and then turning back and entering the lobby.
It shows him standing behind the group.
As the Prince, Charles, Catherine, and the woman leave the hotel, the video shows a male and a female armed with a handgun approaching the group and shooting the woman.
The man then shoots the Prince.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff Department identified the gunman as 29-year-old Brian H. Brown.
He has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and other charges.
