Residents of Clearwater, south of Brisbane, will have to apply for their housing to be reassessed by the council and be notified if they’re facing problems with their housing or a change to their property.

The council’s housing policy was recently updated to include a new requirement for tenants to apply to the local council for reassessment.
The policy is set to expire at the end of July.
It is being updated to comply with the recommendations of the housing experts and to ensure all local councils in Queensland have a sufficient number of available housing stock to accommodate the needs of the people living in the area.
The changes come as the local government in the South Coast town of Clearwaters is under review.
It is expected that about 4,000 residents will be affected.
“If we had to go back to the way things were in 2012, there would have been no housing issues at all, and we could have just moved on,” resident Karyn Smith said.
“It would have worked out perfectly well for us.”
We could have made the transition and not been impacted at all.
“Ms Smith is one of many residents to feel the impact of the change.”
I’ve had people in my area for the last few years who were worried about the housing situation,” she said.”[The new reassessment policy] will make sure that they are happy and able to move on.
They haven’t been able to come back here to live.””
They’ve had to be here for three months,” Ms Smith said of her neighbours.
“They haven’t been able to come back here to live.”
People are living in temporary housing.
“Residents have been told that if they have concerns about their housing they should get in touch with the council.
The council is currently assessing properties in the Clearwaters area for about 600 properties.
