In a post on her Instagram account, Patricia Conde posted a photo of her and her daughter, who is now an adult, sitting together on a couch in their home, with the caption, “I’ve had a lot of questions about what happened to me and my daughter.”
She went on to write, “In a post I made about my rape accusation, I was very honest with myself and with the world.
I shared my story to tell the world that I did not rape my daughter, and I am proud to say that my daughter has grown up to be a good person and a good mother.”
In the caption to her post, Conde wrote, “Today was a turning point for my life and I want to share it with the whole world.
This has not been easy but I will always be grateful for the support I have received from the community and everyone who has helped me through this.
I am so thankful to be able to be who I am, and to have such amazing friends.”
After the rape allegation was made public, Condé and her children moved to the United States and were in their 20s when they were raped by an unknown assailant in 2003.
Condé later filed a lawsuit against her former boyfriend, who also filed a complaint against Condé in 2004.
The lawsuit alleged that Conde and the man had a consensual relationship.
In her post on Conde, Condes said that she felt a sense of betrayal by her former lover, who had promised to forgive her after the incident.
“The thought of him saying, ‘I forgive you, but if you ever want to come back to Florida, I would be happy to take you home,’ hurt me so much,” Conde said in her post.
“I am not sure how I feel right now, but I know that I am not a rapist.
I love my children, I love Patricia, and she loves me.”
Conde later spoke out about the accusations in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2018.
“This is a terrible situation for the family, and it’s a terrible thing that’s happened to my daughter,” Condé said.
“But there are no words to explain how devastating it is for me and Patricia to be on the receiving end of this.”
She continued, “Patricia and I have a special bond.
She has been the most incredible, caring mother I’ve ever known.
It’s a sad day when people can make that accusation and then try to ruin your life.”
Condé was a key witness in the trial of former football star Michael Sam, who was convicted of rape and attempted rape in 2016.
According to the New York Times, the two had been in a romantic relationship for more than two years.
“She had a special connection to my child, and that’s what I’m going to tell you,” Condes, who has four children, told the Times.
“There is no way in the world I could be the father of a child who could not stand up for herself.
That’s the last thing I ever wanted to do, to put my child in a position where she could not be held accountable for anything she did, and when they’re going through the trial, they’re gonna hear all about it.”
The lawsuit against Conde was settled out of court for $25 million, and the former couple married in 2018 after the trial was completed.
Conde did not immediately respond to ABC News’ request for comment.
